We’re blessed to have some Pretty Brilliant People on the Pretty Technical team! We asked Orlando (one of our Software Engineers) a few questions to get inside his brilliant mind!
What are you curious about?
I’m always curious about emerging technologies. Whether it’s AI, blockchain, or the latest open-source tools, I love exploring what’s on the horizon.
What sparks your creativity?
Creativity for me often strikes during those quiet moments—maybe while taking a walk or sipping coffee. It’s when my mind connects seemingly unrelated ideas, and suddenly, a solution or a new approach emerges.
What is it that you value most about the flexibility that working at PT provides?
Not dealing with rush-hour traffic is a blessing. But beyond that, it’s the freedom to structure my day, focus on deep work, and collaborate with folks from different time zones. Plus, working in my PJs is a win!
Who inspires you to be the best version of yourself?
Definitely the developer community. Their passion, blog posts, and open-source contributions keep me motivated. Those late-night programming sessions are like little bursts of inspiration.
What aspect of your work are you most excited by right now?
Right now, I’m working on a UKGC licensed real-money casino project. It’s really cool to be launching Mikado in the UK.
Where would you say that your past experiences have added most value to where you are today?
In previous jobs I spent a lot of time navigating monolithic architectures. Working with the modern microservice architectures that Pretty Technical advocates is a total game-changer! It’s completely changed how we create solutions and solve complex technical problems. Being built on these cutting-edge technologies makes all the difference to our iGaming Platform Mikado.
Which colleagues are you collaborating with on a project right now and what makes the team great?
The whole PT team are great, but the development team I’m working with right now are a total powerhouse. Some of my closest collaborations are with Josmar, Alfredo, Uroosa, Thomas and Xuan. Their diverse skills, fluid communication, and support make every day exciting.
