Pretty Technical People | Mafer

We’re really proud of our Pretty Technical people and are celebrating two of our pretty fantastic team members securing their Computer Science Engineer degrees, one of them being Mafer. We asked her to tell us a bit about her experience of being a Pretty Technical person.

What technology do you most enjoy using in your role?
As a front-end developer I primarily work with JavaScript libraries, of which my favourite is React. It’s what we predominantly use here at Pretty Technical. I also enjoy working with PixiJS, which is used for rich, interactive graphics.

What’s been your favourite project for PT so far and why?
My favorite project was for one of the largest sports newspapers in Spain, where we enabled betting functionality to be added to optimise the opportunities of the World Cup. It was a great professional development experience for me to work on a project from start to finish. I learnt a lot about project management and enjoyed working with a really talented team of Pretty Technical people.

How has your time at PT helped inform your university studies?
When I started studying programming 4 years ago, I couldn’t have imagined my career today or the extent to which I’ve had opportunity to progress. I’ve been one of the Pretty Technical people for two years now and my work has definitely helped my university learning journey. I am constantly learning to improve my performance on a daily basis and achieve better results. My experience in real-world scenarios enables me to solve problems we’re tasked with in a much better way at a faster pace.

What 3 words best describe PTs approach to development:

  1. Friendly
  2. Bright
  3. Welcoming

How do you like to recharge?
I really like to travel and see new places, especially places where I can enjoy natural environments like beaches. It’s even more fun to enjoy those experiences with friends.

What’s your favourite food?
At the moment, I can’t resist a meat grill!

Where in the world haven’t you been but would most like to visit?
I have always wanted to visit Europe, especially Paris.

If you’d like to work in a supportive environment that will help you to develop as a professional, apply to join our Pretty Technical team! Feel free to take a look at our Careers page or send an email to [email protected]
