Our Pretty Brilliant Team includes Software Developer Rafael. We asked him a few questions to get some insight into what inspires and motivates him!
What are you curious about?
I’ve been fascinated by computers since I was a child, which obviously set me on this career path! Other than my ongoing study of new technologies (such as these front-end technologies), I’m learning how to express ideas in new ways and am fascinated by people, so am learning more about human relations.
What sparks your creativity?
I love to discover ways to improve what I do, so learning new things in the technology space tends to spur me on to try and apply them. This can lead me on quite a creative journey!
What is it that you value most about the flexibility that working at PT provides?
The flexibility has enabled me to develop a comfortable and adaptable working routine. I can make the most of working hours and continue doing things that are important to me such as swimming, which I recently rediscovered.
Who inspires you to be the best version of yourself?
One person who inspires me with his dedication and passion for what he does is coworker/technical leader Julio. He was actually my university tutor and has often served as a guide and mentor. He’s always been there to help me, both professionally and personally (even when he didn’t really have time). I really appreciate his camaraderie, support and brilliance!
What aspect of your work are you most excited by right now?
I’m really enjoying engaging with clients and loving the opportunity to lead projects. The improvement and advancement of my skills (mainly programming and having ideas to contribute) is incredibly motivational and exciting.
Where would you say that your past experiences have added most value to where you are today?
PT is only the second software development company I’ve worked at, both of them have presented me with great opportunities to learn and develop. I’d say some of the most valuable skills I’ve learnt have been how to communicate and how to work well as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives. These skills make me a team member that (I hope) my colleagues enjoy collaborating with and relating to!
Which colleagues are you collaborating with on a project right now and what makes the team great?
I’m currently working on a project with Jose and Erick. Having worked on several projects together over the years, Erick and I know how to bring out the best in each other and play to our respective strengths. I’m really enjoying working alongside Jose too, he has an incredible ability to adapt to problems which I’m learning lots from!
