Pretty Brilliant People | Emma Minns

Our latest Pretty Brilliant People introduces the wonderful Emma Minns, Pretty Technical’s Head of Finance. With a career spanning manufacturing, insurance, hospitality, and education, Emma brings a wealth of experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and is the person making sure our fast-growing business is backed by solid financial foundations.

Her expertise in building efficient financial systems will help ensure that as Pretty Technical continues to grow, the numbers behind the scenes are as well-managed as the products and partnerships out front. We sat down with Emma to talk about her path into finance, life at PT so far, and how she finds time for herself outside of work.

You’ve worked across a wide range of industries. What attracted you to the iGaming world, and to Pretty Technical in particular?

Definitely the fast pace and innovation in the iGaming world. After meeting the Pretty Technical team, I was impressed with their wealth of experience and creative vision. I really wanted to be an active part in shaping its future strategy.

What’s been your main focus since stepping into the Head of Finance role?

I feel I have joined PT at a very exciting time, so I am concentrating on understanding the financial foundations needed to support the next phase of growth

What excites you most about the road ahead at Pretty Technical?

I’m excited about the opportunity to help develop a business where there is a clear vision, a talented team, and plenty of scope for growth.

Finance is often seen as a behind-the-scenes role. What’s one way you think finance can help shape a company’s culture or future direction?

It’s important everyone understands the numbers and how their indiviual work impacts the finance position. That shared understanding is key to sustainable growth and making confident decisions as the business develops

Outside of work, how do you find time for yourself, and what does a perfect day off look like for you?

I love to walk, especially along the local river or coastline, so it would involve waking up without an alarm, a good coffee in the morning sun and then a long walk along the coast, listening to one of my favourite podcasts. I would then meet friends for dinner  to watch the sunset over the sea.

Final question. If you could hop on a plane tomorrow for your dream trip, where are you heading, and what’s coming with you in the suitcase?

This is the hardest question as I have so many places I would love to visit, but right now it would have to be the Almalfi coast in Italy. Sitting by the sea, watching the world go by with a glass of wine sounds perfect. In the suitcase: keeping it simple with some relaxed clothes and a couple of good books.
