We recently interviewed our Chief Product Officer, Tom, to dive into the unique features and benefits of our Player Account Management (PAM) platform, Mikado. Tom shared insights into Mikado’s cutting-edge technology, its flexibility in supporting various gaming verticals, and how it empowers operators with complete control over their platform roadmap.
Q: What is a PAM and how is Mikado different from other platforms?
I like to think of the PAM as the heart of an operation. The central piece of software that brings everything together.
In the PAM, operators would manage their players, e.g., player balances, transactions, status as well as manage bonuses, monitor activity, analyse reports and much, much more.
Mikado stands apart from a traditional white-label offering by giving the operator full control over their roadmap. With Mikado and Pretty Technical we provide them with their own dedicated, comprehensive Product Team to turn their vision into the features and integrations they need to make it a reality. No one operators version of Mikado is the same as another’s.
Q: What markets and jurisdictions does Mikado support?
We are live with UKGC and Curaçao clients, with new markets coming very soon.
Q: Which verticals do you support?
Owing to Mikado’s flexible, (and very modern) design, we can support virtually any vertical. Be it casino, sportsbook bingo, sweepstakes, we cover it.
Q: Does Mikado support mobile?
Absolutely! We have a comprehensive mobile SDK to enable native mobile development.
Q: What is the technological approach that you use to build the platform?
Mikado is built around a microservice architecture philosophy and consists of a multitude of independent, but complimentary, microservices. This enables modularity and flexibility. No integration or functionality is “hard baked” into Mikado and we are therefore not hamstrung by years of technical debt that we need to unpick in order to introduce new functionality.
We also take advantage of mature, well-supported open source technologies to boot, which keeps the total cost of ownership down. Mikado is also lightweight, performant and horizontally scalable. We use modern cloud practices and technologies to give us the ability to optimise cost and performance on-the-fly.
Q: What content integrations do you have?
We offer numerous integrations with leading third-party providers across casino games, free-to-play, and sportsbook content. And if operators are looking for a specific integration we don’t yet support, our modern approach makes adding new integrations quick and straightforward.
Q: What are the commercial models?
We can offer Mikado in a variety of ways to suit the operators’ particular needs and ambitions. Most often, we work on a code purchase basis. This gives the operator the ability to buy a copy of the source meaning they own the IP, and then build on top of that against their roadmap. This directly enhances their enterprise value and gives them complete control. In this model, there are no revenue shares or the like, rather simple, transparent and predictable monthly costs tied to the Product Team working on their product and optional extras such as SLAs.
Q: How quickly can I go live with Mikado PAM?
The biggest question of all. As ever, this “depends” but many of our clients seek an MVP approach whereby they launch Mikado in its base form with base integrations and then we iteratively introduce new features and integrations post-launch. This enables them to go to market within weeks and get the ball rolling.
I’d like to add that Mikado will be fully sweepstakes-ready by the end of the year. Whether the customer is looking to launch a new operation or migrate, we’d love to speak to them about their particular requirements.
